This is a poor excuse. So they all have jobs lined up, or can support themselves for the time it takes them to find a new job? Companies should be required to either provide notice to employees, or pay for the two weeks notice that they expect from the employees. If it's not ok for me to just tell my employer "yesterday was my last day, bye!" then they should not be allowed to do it either.
I understand, but did they wake up Friday morning and decide they were closing that night? Of course not. They had to have known they were closing for at least several days before this.

That sort of thing doesn’t happen overnight. I don’t understand why this happens so often with restaurants. It’s not like the management didn’t see this coming. Why close suddenly? It sucks for employees, customers, and vendors.
