NWN EE - Thanks to everyones help, I am starting to learn the Toolset!

Post Body

So a few days ago I asked about learning the NWN EE Toolset and got some help. But one person stuck out to me.

Work out what you want to build with it and learn by doing. Like programming, if you just try to 'learn' the toolset on your own you're likely to get bored pretty quick (though it's not a bad idea to watch a couple of tutorials briefly first just to understand the general layout and UI, if you've not used 3D creation software before). But the toolset is very intuitive/easy to use so the best thing to do is start off, try to make something and see how far you can get! When you get stuck on something, use Google and/or Youtube to look at forums and video tutorials, most of your questions will have been asked somewhere... ditto the NWN Vault discord which has a huge history of people asking all the questions you could imagine (you can search through old posts there), and if you can't find what you're looking for just ask!

So today, I decided to do just that. I booted up the Toolset and started just trying to puzzle out things. I am an older guy (in my 40s now) and have messed around with stuff like Construct2 in the past so I figured I SHOULD in theory be able to do something.

Well, over the course of 2 hours? I managed to make 2 areas, decorate them in a basic way, move spawn points for the player, link the two areas, create a chest with some treasure in it, lock doors to block off areas, and create a simple undead encounter! I still am not sure how to create NPCs or do dialog trees yet, but I am working my way through it. I started a little thread on my Twitter to document my progress with learning. I have a personal goal that by the end of 2023 I will create a small adventure module for people to play, with a beginning middle and ending.

So far, so good! Thanks everyone for the help and if I get questions I will use the other thread to start puzzling them out!
