I have small fiber neuropathy of as of yet unknown origin throughout my body. The pain is mild but the reduced sensation is very disturbing to me. For instance, not being able to feel as much as I used to when petting a dog or touching my girlfriend. I am curious how gabapentin affects this symptom in particular. Does it improve sensation by reducing competing pain signals? Does it reduce sensation by muting everything further? Does it make no difference? Basically I'm wondering if it's worth pursuing if I only consider my pain mild but consider the sensation loss to be a huge quality of life issue for me.
