Last year I started working at one of those modern companies that want you to feel "at home" in the office, and they promote getting to know your coworkers. I thought I had hit it off with people from my team who were around my age, we used to have fun conversations and I enjoyed spending time with them, until last week my closest friend from that group told me that they had spoken ill of me because of my special interest (at the time it's Taylor Swift) and they were saying how weird and obsessed I am with Taylor Swift and so on, and only my closest friend stood up for me and told them to shut up, which ostracized her from the group. Idk, I'm feeling very sad and like I can't trust them (obviously), but I can't help but wonder if there's something I could have done differently to avoid being criticized like that. This was the first time in my life that I felt like I belonged, and now it's gone. Any advice?
