Can drugs do more than just bind to receptors?

I was wondering about whether tryptamine drugs like LSD could have chemical effects apart from binding to receptors. Aren't tryptamines used in cellular processes? I mean, melatonin is not as simple as simple receptor binding. Am I way off in asking this?
