Advice/Guidance for a new Network Engineer

Post Body

I recently changed jobs from a Net Admin at a local government to a Network Eng position in an IT solutions company. I feel a bit intimidated due to being the newest hire in a while, everyone is way older than me, I believe the youngest one is 27 (I'm 24). I have 6 years in the IT industry and 4 in networking and hold some industry certs but I'm looking for some tips for this new line of work.

I've been in the job for a couple of months, and have started to build my own little tool pouch (ethernet crimper, drill, extensions, and a netool.io ) I clearly lack some more equipment, but I come from an office job where I would be sitting down and work from my desk, and in case I needed tools I had a wide variety selection and now I'm always on the move and need to be ready for anything.

A couple of questions would be, what tools (hardware & electronic) should I get? I find getting backups from equipment is time consuming, even tho I use a script on SecureCRT, it also takes way to long to come up with a gameplan to deploy new switches (specifically having to physically mark each cable with a special vlan), and wasting time deploying configs on switch stacks (having to unbox the switches, do the config and box them again for transportation).

Any suggestions on how to work, manage my time, career advice, tools, etc is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advanced.
