Hey guys and gals of r/networking.
let me start by saying I'm brand new to working on cisco gear but i've been in networking for the better part of 12 years.
When I nuke all the configs and restart and hold the mode button my understanding from the docs is that i should get a dhcp lease from it and have a gui if i go to https://10.0.0.1, which doesn't happen.
My processes:
while the switch is running hold down the mode button until all lights blink and then the switch reboots, this just reboots the switch
del flash:config.txt del flash:vlan.dat then rebooting 2 of the 5 times I've tried this it will ask me about configuring the switch, the other 3 times it just comes back up to switch>
I have tried this with nothing (other than console) plugged up to the switch as well. Which was one of the times it asked me to configure it, but it still didn't give me an ip or let me pull up the gui.
none of these times did I get a dhcp lease on my laptop nor was I able to open the gui.
