Post Body

Hello, my apologies for lack of experience, I am 1 year into a helpdesk role and looking get my N Cert and learn more about networking.

The issue we are having is I would get a complaint that someone is having issues. After troubleshooting it points to their ip address. The issue may be bigger but for the time being, I would like to quickly reassign a new ip to that workstation. How would I go about doing that? My current process is; I release their IP from their computer, remove that client from the DHCP server, I get a computer that’s not being used and statically assign that “bad address” to that adapter, go back to the users computer and renew ip. This process is obviously wrong. Help please.

Please be gentle. lol!!
