Subtitles question

I'm just starting Money Heist here and I was reminded of a serious ballache I have with the subtitles.
I use the Netflix app on a smart TV.
For some reason, it always defaults my subtitles to English CC. I don't want English CC. I just want English. I can switch it fine in program. And it'll stay set if I watch a few.
As soon as I exit or even back out of that show, it'll default back to CC.
Is there a way to stop this? Because I damn well can't find it.
