Is it all just cringy sex? Not really an issue in such a show. It is not the cringiest tv sex I have ever seen (im a straight 31yo male at the height of my sexual prowess/s.. I should be pulling down my pants at sex scenes) and I only skipped it for the sake of cba with watching it but I do tend to skip over sex scenes unless there's a good bit of atmosphere/tension/chemistry/realness.. for I cannot handle cringe of any capacity.
Though I do want to mention something I noticed during Ginny & Georgia was the sheer amount of sex scenes in that show and others being released by Netflix at the time. The issue I had and have with it is that the shows frontrunner child IS a child in the show. She is underage. I'm not sexualising a child, the show is doing that for "me". As a 29yo at the time male, I had to question what the fuck am I watching? Do I continue to watch this? Do I boycott the show altogether for what in my mind, is weird and uncomfortable as f**k?
I had conversations with people who had children and also noticed this trend, of young adult shows really pushing the boundaries of sex to the point mothers turned it off also.
The amount of sex in season 3 of Bridgerton reminded me of it. I have nothing against Bridgerton for it though I do not give it an automatic thumbs up for quality when evaluating/enjoying the show.
Was season 1 like this? I didn't think it was as racy as this. Cool! I sound like a prude and I'm really not, it's just some shows do it well others don't. A good example of a Netflix show with loads of sex that actually made me brick up was that show very loosely based on an 80's/90's italian porn star called Supersex which I thought was an awesome piece of TV without the sex. I recommend that show for sure if you haven't seen it. It's a comedy. Anyway, I've not slept in 2 days. Off to watch the rest of Bridgerton.
