My mom had me vaccinated and she herself is vaccinated... so I just assumed she would have had her other kids vaccinated as well. Then this morning she brought up that my little sister has been very sick with the flu and doctor was freaking out thinking it was measles. I kinda laughed but then I was like wait sheās vaccinated right? My mom said they had researched side effects and had decided against immunizations... and mentioned thereās been an outbreak just a few hours from where they live. Iām very worried about my brother and sister, both under the age of 10. But I donāt know how to talk to my mom about this. She can be very stubborn and tends to only listen to what she wants to hear... I really donāt want to put any strain on our relationship but this is important. How can I approach this?
Edit update: I tried to talk to my mom and she dodged all my questions and points like she usually does and instead kept bringing up other issues like how terrible this video of circumcising a baby was she saw once or how much violence is in public schools (she home schools), etc. Then yesterday out of the blue she sends me this article (probably just wanted time to come up with a counter argument supporting all her ideas):article This article goes on about how āyou shouldnāt be worried because itās not an actual outbreak just a normal amount of routine annual casesā (which is bs when is should have been eradicated) and things like āThereās more death caused by the measles vaccine than the actual measlesā etc.... I doubt this article is legit or at the very least has faulty research but she sees things like this that tell her exactly what she wants to hear and its packaged so persuasively that sheās never going to listen to reason. I honestly have no idea how to get through to her.
