I play in a huge social league in Sydney and haven’t come across a single other person that watches the NBL. Whenever I ask people if they follow the league, they kind of shrug and and say how the league has always been subpar. I’ve noticed huge changes since the turn of the decade and with Larry at the helm. As momentum progresses towards a more entertaining and professional league, there are still a lot of potential fans to be captured by the league. People talk about the nbl hitting a ceiling because of nrl/afl being king in Australia, but let’s recognise there are masses of people already within the basketball community that just aren’t engaged with the nbl.
