Should the Lakers entertain the idea of bringing Russell Westbrook off the bench?
Post Body

It feels like the main reason why Russ is in LA is to keep the Lakers afloat when LeBron sits, which I'm imagining will be even more this season than ever. (I'm expecting about 30-32 MPG for LeBron)

Russ has a well documented past of elevating subpar squads around him to overachieve (most notably 2016-17 and last season) and I'm just not sure how Russ would fare playing on the court with LeBron since he needs the ball to be the most effective and we can all agree LeBron is the better man to run LA's offense through.

Because of this, I think it would be an interesting idea for Russ to come off the bench in LA and run with the 2nd stringers. He'd be the primary decision maker with LeBron resting and he'd also be surrounded with shooters like Ellington, Melo, Monk, Bazemore, and/or Ariza which would help open up the lane for drive and kick opportunities. He would effectively serve as like a backup to LeBron the same way that Wade was in Miami.

What's your guys' opinion? Would Russ be better served coming off the bench?
