What does Boston need to get over the hump?
Post Body

Boston was clearly the more talented team in the Heat series but after the miracle in G6, they crapped the bed again. There are stretches in the game where the offense just completely collapsed with two of the best offensive wings in the roster. They got Smart, Brogdon, White, Horford and Timelord. What more do they need?

Should they change coaches again? Trade Brown? Change the offense? Run it back as it is? I mean JT and JB are still young but their supporting cast is getting up there. Not sure how long Horfords body can hold up. His defense was still great but his offense just plummeted in the heat series.

Last season I thought all they needed was a good playmaker to lead the game, when the shots are just not falling. And they got Brogdon, a seemingly perfect fit. We could all blame injuries but look at what the Heat did.

EDIT: A lot of people take issue with the „more talented“ part. It‘s not a knock against the Heat, everything considered it makes their run even more glorious and if they win it all perhaps the best unexpected championship run ever!

But just from a front office consideration point, if you lose your 2nd (if not 1st) and 3rd offensive option, your team tend to be less „talented“ than your opponent. Boston was fully healthy (as healthy as you can get Timelord late in the playoffs) and all Players have proven themselves in the playoffs. Yes, so did the Heat but even the most loyal Heat Fan wouldn’t have imagined Caleb Martin going for like 20 in the last six games. The players who showed up this series had a much smaller role last playoff run.

If you take out the two best players of each team and see who is left: Smart, White, Brogdon, Horford, Timelord Strus, Caleb Martin, Vincent, Robinson, Lowry It is pretty clear who at this point of their career is more valuable to a team. Which player will be taken over the other guy in a straight up trade? Caleb Martin has earned a huge bag with his play in this series, but it‘s still arguable if he would be taken over White or Brogdon, let alone Smart or Timelord.

Awful comparison. Herro and Oladipo are like 4th options while Tatum is the number 1 guy lol. No excuse but not the same lol
