Early on this season, RJ is asked about starting the season slow "I don't know why, third year in a row I started like this. But I'm a guy that I never give up, I never quit. God's blessed me with that ability."
RJ Barrett prior to this stretch: 15/5/2 on 50%TS. RJ dealt with a stomach bug for a few weeks spanning from mid-late november to early december. One game he was puking at the Barclays center and missed the next. He then got COVID right after getting healthy, and missed the next 6 games.
RJ has found his step since coming back from COVID protocols, and has had the best run of his career. He's found his jumper again, shooting 6 threes a game on a 40% clip similar to last season. Efficiency has to improve, since he's sitting at 54%TS during this stretch (average for shooting guards is 54.8%).
Usually guarding the opponents best player every night, things are looking great for RJ's two-way development. He's showing growth with his handles and finishing, and can now create space for himself and get his own looks. He's had 4 30-point games in this stretch and has been the Knicks primary option over Randle since the New Years.
