Suppose you get a triple double in points, rebounds, and assists. Then that's three double double combinations:
Points rebounds
Rebounds assists
Assists points
However, after some investigating, it seems sources don't do this. For example, Statmuse says Westbrook only has 450 double doubles all time. But he has 184 triple doubles, and so if they counted triple doubles as 3 double doubles, then Westbrook should have at least 184 × 3 = 552 double doubles.
Why aren't triple doubles counted as three double doubles? Are they even counted as double doubles at all?
(And I do think quadruple doubles should be counted as 4 choose 2 = 24/4 = 6 double doubles, and quintuple doubles should be counted as 5 choose 2 = 120/12 = 10 double doubles.)
