Evening guys, it's late over here at the moment, so excuse any mistakes I make in this post!
I'm back to let you all know about /r/CharitableBets. It's a simple concept - you bet with another redditor (on anything, but in this case the NBA playoffs would make sense) on the result of a game, the result of a series or anything else you can imagine. The loser pays out the agreed amount to a charity chosen by the winner.
Last year /r/NBA users were AWESOME and were responsible for a very big chunk of the current total raised of nearly $4500.
Our motto is that there are "No Losers" because even if you lose the bet, all you have to do is donate to charity - and that makes you a winner.
To get things started, I'll throw out a bet (it'd normally be on the Knicks, but err.. the less said about that the better) that the Raptors/Nets series will be decided in 6 or 7 games. I'll bet $10 and my charity is the MS Society. This bet is only for one person to accept.
I'd encourage anyone else wanting to make a bet to head over to /r/CharitableBets and either make a post or search for Open Bets using the link on the sidebar.
Thanks again to all those who took part last year and thank you to all of you still reading my post at this point. I hope to see you making bets and raising money for charity soon!
