For context I am just now getting help after 4 years of dealing with my issue. I hurt my back during a PFA in a school four years ago which caused intense muscle spasm and chronic pain. Due to me being in the Nuclear pipeline, medics just put me 6 months LimDu and bi-weekly PT. No x-rays or MRI’s. After my LimDu period was over I continued on with my Naval career and just dealt with chronic pain and muscle spasms. I showed up to my command and dealt with pain getting worse only occasionally going to my Doc for muscle relaxers and pain meds.
It all finally came to a head when I felt numbness in my crotch and all down my left leg. I told my chief I need to go to urgent care which he let me do begrudgingly. The urgent care sent me to the ER for MRI and my vitals being high with a heartbeat of 148, and a BP of 196/120. Got an MRI stating I had two herniated disc’s and degenerative disc disease across my whole back.
I was pulled from my command and got LimDu again, however the medical officer who did so put in my medical record I was possibly malingering and that care should be given with this thought in mind. I received shit healthcare not knowing he put that in my record until an O-3 psychologist told me so 3 months later. Unfortunately the medication I was taking for my chronic pain was disqualifying for my rate and for the type of command I was at and I was out on another LimDu period with LimDu orders.
The pain only got worse and I was just put on MEDBoard 3 weeks ago and got another MRI showing that the herniated disc’s were worse than originally diagnosed and had gotten worse pushing against my sciatic nerve cause the intense pain and muscle spasms. It’s so bad I can’t even hold my 2 kids who both weigh 45 and 18lbs and it’s because the navy gave me shit healthcare and ruined my life.
