Interested in meeting someone local as I’ve tried making friends and catching feeling with people who are halfway around the world and it’s not the same as being able to meet up. If distance is the first piece of the puzzle, I think compatibility is the second. It would be great if we had something in common, maybe we have similar interests/hobbies (cooking/baking, photography, sitcoms with laugh tracks, the occasional outdoor activity, and making stuff). Or it could be that we have similar backgrounds (I’m a first gen Asian American, have lived in 9 states, and try to live a minimalist life) or shared beliefs (round Earther and emo music lover).
Not sure if it’s typical of this sub but my partner and I believe that one person can’t (and shouldn’t) meet every need so we think it’s OK if there are other people in our lives that provide pieces that are missing. That typically takes the form of a platonic friend and nothing more. I’m interested physical relationships as well but there has never been a good enough match. So I’m open to anything from platonic conversation to a physical relationship and whatever may be in between. The ideal situation is that we get along and live relatively close to each other so we can meet up. I’m a realist so I know it’s more likely that we’ll just be talking online so even though I’ve made it a point to be looking for someone local don’t let distance be a deterrent if you want to reply and think we’d get along. Opening messages can be awkward. What to ask, what to reveal, how much to write, etc. Don’t over think it and tell me about yourself and what you’re looking for, let’s get to know each other.
