Local Facebook groups of Reynosa were flooded with warnings and "toque de quedas" Curfews by the Grupo Escorpion faction of the Cartel del Golfo. Los Escorpiones announced that there would be "Levantones" abductions of anyone who disobeyed the curfew after 6 pm. Anyone who was walking around or playing loud music would be hung. I visit Mexico occasionally and my families neighborhood in Reynosa Tamaulipas is strategic because its on the east side of town and close to the city outskirts that connects San Fernando, Rio Bravo, Reynosa and Valle Hermoso through "brechas" dirt roads were Cartel Monstruo trucks can move freely

The "Colonia" Neighborhood is relatively large and was always controlled by Los Metros since the times of "El Comandante toro" in 2016/2017. They moved in to the neighborhood and established "Oficinas"-safe houses, "puntos" -distribution points, and "Punteros/marucheros"-Look outs with walkie talkie radios, along with a "Comandante de colonia" Sector commander of los Metros in charge of the neighborhood level operations.

It was common to see Punteros of Los Metros in the neighborhood plaza at all time, during the day and the night. They were males and females between 15-23 with Motorola walkie talkies and they usually stood at the entrances and parks to monitor the day to day movements. Since then most of them were moved up to Sicarios or "Pucheros, Comandante de Punteros" Commander of Lookouts.

Since the Gulf cartel fractured again in 2021 it was common to see Pick up trucks and SUVs filled with Grupo Escorpion Sicarios enter The city through Rio Bravo and into reynosa neighborhoods to kill Look outs in drive by shootings in broad daylight and during the night Los Metros would block the neighborhood entrance With 2 or 3 pick up trucks and 8-12 Sicarios to stop Los Escorpiones from Entering the neighborhood.

Sometimes Los Escorpiones would slip in at night and abduct the look outs to take them back to Matamoros and interrogate them. They also keep their walkie talkies to over hear the radio frequencies and channels of Los Metros.

One time a white Chevy Tahoe of Los Escorpiones entered the neighborhood to try and abduct a lookout, but they botched the job and the Mexican army caught them and Killed all 4 Sicarios in broad daylight.

Late April 2023 at around 3am in the morning Grupo Escorpion Sicarios entered Reynosa through Rio bravo in A convoy of Pick up trucks marked "XIX" "SC-19" with chalk and they drove into my neighborhood and killed all of the Metros look outs. I know a lady that wakes up at around midnight so cook for her small taco business, she witnessed how they Los Escorpiones Chased the Look outs on foot and sprayed them with "Cuernos" AK-47s and AR-15s.

They put the dead bodies on the back of the trucks and drove off. Some of the lookouts tried hiding in bushes or under cars but all of them were killed. That day shootouts lasted all night since it Was CDG Los Metros, CJNG, ZVE VS CDG Grupo Escorpion.

A couple of weeks later people started seeing new Punteros lookouts that claimed to be Escorpiones. The new ones have been stealing cars and beating anyone who walks out at night past 10 pm and they say "Somos la Maña de Matamoros" We are the Cartel from Matamoros. At night sometimes Los Metros enter the neighborhood in trucks with the windows rolled all the way down and los Escorpiones look outs hide from them by climbing in on top of homes and hiding since the roofs are mostly flat.
