My narc-father is always — always eyeing me, my wife or kids up — anyone else for that matter. Whether it be wait staff at a restaurant or watching people walk by at a resort. And it’s almost always followed by a comment about their weight, their hairstyle, their clothing. In the case of my wife or children it’s some anecdote about how they (narc) did the same or better with job or children. Even though they didn’t. Or it’s to tell the kids that their toys could be improved by their (narcs) superior analytical mind, and yes, they use the terms “superior”. And it has been this way my entire life. I can remember 25 years ago while waiting for a table at a restaurant my narc-father telling me “see those people (servers)? They are servants and we are the served.” I’m not kidding.
