Hi! I was born in 2000 but I'm not necessarily looking for gender neutral names from that era.
I like noun names. Nothing super out there like Frog, but things that sound moreso like names like Briar and Cedar. I like names that relate to fire, light, bravery, etc. I'm a future social worker and will likely spend a large portion of my life dedicated to social justice.
Some current top contenders: Gray, Emery/Emory, and Emerson. I like Ember and would use that but unfortunately it feels too femme for me. That's the problem with my current chosen name (Amethyst) - which is why I like noun names (Americans don't associate nouns with a gender because our language isn't structured like that) or masculine names that aren't heard very often (because people don't have a preconception of gender associated with that name).
Names I don't like: obviously masculine names (such as Adrian, Trent, etc), obviously feminine names, names that sound "harsh" (I tend not to like names with Xs or Zs), outlandish noun names, many traditional "unisex" names (not a fan of Alex, Casey, etc).
Also, if you're reading this and have chosen a name for yourself, how did you choose something for yourself?
