I want to choose a new name because my birth name has bad associations for me and I have narrowed down some options that I would like input on. I was named after Mary Magdalene, and my mom, whose name is Lynn. (If you have a guess of what it is, please don't say that in the comments and keep it to yourself.)

My current list is:

Linette / Madge / Miriam / Maarja / Joan / Wanda / Zelma / Viola

My mom suggested Linette, but that might make things confusing because her name is Lynn. I like it though.

I like Madge so so much, especially if it was short for Magdalena, or Marjorie. Miriam is so pretty to me also, it's a name I've loved since childhood.

Zelma is the name of my great grandmother and I love it so much. Viola is the middle name of a different great-grandma but a cousin on the other side has her first name. When my mom looked it up and said Viola though I fell in love with it, and I think it's also a good choice because my parents initially wanted to name me after that grandma.

Wanda is the name of my great-grandmother who I knew the most but she made all of her daughters promise her not to name a daughter that. So because of that, it feels disrespectful to her to name myself that, but I do really like it.

My big three probably are Madge, Zelma, and Viola.
