Hi y'all, I teach in a middle school (grades 6-8) and have about 100 students. I am not going to post all of their names - that would take forever and be identifying for them and me. Instead I thought, my fellow name nerds that we could play a game.
Can you guess what duplicate names I have this year?
I have 3 duplicate boy names, 5 duplicate girl names, and 1 that belongs to one girl and one boy.
Hints: This is a school in Northern CA. Most of the girl names are pronounced the name, but are spelled differently like Kristina/Christina. 2 of the three boys names are pretty traditional, the third I think is pretty popular too. The boy/girl duplicate name is a nickname that is both of their legal name.
Bonus: Guess what starting sound 11 out of my class of 30 students has.
Edit: One girl name guessed - Isabel/Ysabel. 3 boy names, 4 girl names, and 1 unisex name left. Happy guessing, name nerds!
Edit 2: Two boy names guessed - Tyler and Michael.
Edit 3: Last boy name: Christian! Unisex name Andy/Andie
Edit 4: I guess the girl names are hard. Besides Isabel/Ysabel... I have two students named after a princess from classic Greek mythology. I have two who have a C/K spelling difference but have otherwise the same name. Two girls share an M name that has lots of spellings. And two have a Kr/Kir name.
Edit 5: Kirsten/Kristen is one of my girl names. Makayla/Mikela is also one.
Edit 6: Last two names are Catherine/Katherine and Cassandra.
