Modifying existing gear?
Post Body

I have a backpack that I absolutely love, but I'd love it even more if I could add a full loop velcro front for morale patches. What are my chances of success when it comes to modifying an existing piece of gear like this, and are there any methods that I should be following to get there without ruining the pack?

What pack is it?

So the only space I can see where that might work is between the bottom of the zipper down to the top of the grey bar just before the rivets that hold the plastic bottom on and then have that just go to either side of that panel.

Bigger than that and you're covering/losing the use of the pouch that the zipper attaches to. You could have a bigger panel that had a cut-out for the zipper but that's going to look...a little odd.

Sewing is the usual go-to for attaching loop panels. You can use glue but it's...messy and I don't advise it.

You can either hand sew it or take it to a tailor, some place that advertises as doing "alterations." They should be able to do it but be prepared for them to say no. They also may not have the velcro loop on hand so you'd probably have to buy that yourself. Any fabric/craft store should have it.

Just make sure you tell them to sew it such that it doesn't sew that pocket shut.

If it's this pack, I don't see a ton of space for it to have velcro added to it.
