Drying Phaeolus schweinitzii for later use?

I recently found a nice piece of Dyer's Polypore and I've never used it before to dye anything...and I'm not quite ready to do that using the fresh mushroom....Is it possible to dehydrate and pulverize it and use it later? Will it dye the same way once its dried?
