Am I understanding countering right?

A party member is morph-based, and has an Affliction (transformed) ability. The party is going to be fighting someone who's been morphed against his will into a Hulk-like monster, and I assume that hero is going to try to transform him back into their normal human form. Am I correct in thinking that she'd be countering the morph effect, rather than using the Affliction as normal? What if the enemy had morphed himself intentionally, rather than it being applied against his will?
