I like his music (its like an updated, German Songs: Ohia) and basically understand the lyrics, but I'm curious if there is something I am missing because I don't consume any German language journalism or stuff like that. Like, I get that he is somewhat subversive and likes to sing about sexuality. But is there anything that a person with mediocre German should know or understand about him? Or is he just a talented songwriter with boundary pushing lyrics and videos?
In other words, is there a US artist whose career Faber can be compared to and is that artist the US folk musician Mark Kozelek (who writes wonderful, odd, and interesting music, but is notoriously mean spirited, hard to work with, and not nice to women).
