I'm still a beginner when it comes to theory and composing. I recently started a band and I'm trying to step up my game when it comes to writing bass lines. One tip I've received a lot is using counterpoint. I finally decided to do some research and while I do understand the concept I'm having a hard time putting it to use. I was wondering if anyone could give me a "for dummies" summary on how I would apply it on bass when it comes to Metal(we're a mix of old school Nu Metal and modern-ish Metalcore). Or if anyone knows any specific Metal songs that use counterpoint between guitar and bass that would be great too.
