Are there progressions or keys that are more "energetic" than others?

Post Body

I'm a piano player, and I'm trying to write EDM music that's catchy, groovy, and makes people want to dance. However, whatever I write more naturally comes out sounding melancholic and emotional.

So questions:

  • Broadly speaking, what makes a song more energetic? I'm sure it's a combination of rhythm, tempo, melody, and progression, but I'm not sure what I need to do to write that way.
  • Are there progressions or chord patterns (V - I, etc. ) that lend themselves to being more energetic?
  • Are rhythm or melody more important than progression to create energetic songs?
  • I'd love any advice you have to writing songs with more energy.
