Applying Finger Patterns to Different Key Scales?

Post Body

Hey everyone. Title must sound strange, I know.

I’ve just purchased “‘Monster Scales and Modes” by Dave Celentano as my first real attempt at learning theory and becoming a “real” guitarist. In this book, scales are taught in the home key of A using about five shapes climbing the fretboard building a scale which covers the entire fretboard. Each scale is in A and I cannot fathom where to play these shapes to create the scale of another key.

Thanks for possibly understanding.

Bad musician signing out.
