I read a post the other day that basically stated that unless you are TikTok famous, you will never takeoff as an artist. The idea is that labels would prefer to sign artists that already have a huge and established fan base. Don't get me wrong, I know you can "take-off" without a label, but I'm sure everyone that does at least has offers from labels. I have not had much success on TikTok. I have 3k followers on Instagram, all organic as well, but I still feel like people don't engage with my content or stream my music as should with an account that big. I look at artists like Ollie, who NEVER post and have found tremendous success on Spotify. This alone makes me feel like you don't actually have to be Social Media Famous to be successful.
I am pop artist who makes high quality songs, and work with professional producers and mastering engineers. My mixes, my tracks, my music sounds very high quality and I promote my songs using Instagram Ads and Spotify Playlist pitching through Groover. I average around 9-10k monthly listeners. But I still don't feel like my music is taking off. So I guess my question is, is there a specific strategy that I should be using to do this? I would love to hear your thoughts and insights.
