I’ve been working in the music industry for a couple of years but need some advice.
I’m taking my another unpaid internship and I’m not sure if this company will give me a job. A lot of the staff is not getting paid right now because of Covid so it is unlikely that I will be getting a paid position until things go fully back to normal. I’ve been applying to different places but have been getting heavily rejected by every place I apply to. I don’t want to take another unpaid internship because I already have a good chunk of experience on top of my degree (just graduated).
I guess I’m looking for advice on what people have done to get their foot in the door and get paid for their work, and also maybe on how long they held out before they saw money or decided to pivot industries. I know looking for a job post grad can be tough, especially right now because of Covid, but I’m frustrated. I’ve been thinking about leaving the industry because the amount of work I see people putting in doesn’t seem to match the pay out. Also, I’m a first gen POC so I have to worry about money. I don’t want to be working two jobs to survive/ pay for my job in the industry and I don’t want be exploited. I’m just starting to get jaded at this point but I love the industry.
