There was an article that popped up today on my Google feed of a classic rock band being offered. 1.27 billion for their catalog. However, people don't buy artist catalogs just to hold on to them, but to exploit them and gain all possible revenues from them. With that being said, the buyer of the catalog knows that the catalog is worth at least 10 times more than what the artist sells the catalog. My question then is, why sell, when you can get more money out of the catalog by commanding a higher asking price?
