If you ask anyone what my favorite movie musical is they will tell you Moulin rouge. The is something special about those original songs, they sound original not some pieced together clusterfuck like the Broadway version. So far I've heard Elephant love medly, Roxanne, and sparkling diamonds from the Broadway version and I don't like it. I don't like how they took a bunch of modern songs and threw them together , I don't like how they changed the beat , the entire ambiance of the musical. Don't get me wrong Aaron Tevit and Karen olivo are incredible but it's not my cup of tea. I'm incredibly disappointed as I waited forever for my favorite movie to become a stage production just to be disappointed by the music.
I'd love to know others opioins , if you disagree with me that's fine.
