I'm probably the only one that noticed this but it looks like they're using wax tablets as a device for writing their equations! I first noticed it in Season1, Episode 7. Wax tablets were a tool used in ancient times for writing (most notably in the Ancient Roman Empire). Slate was also a very popular tool for endeavors but wasn't widely available until the 18th century (also they're rich so it could've been a century earlier). Although many reports vary. I thought this was very interesting as I wasn't sure what their level of technology was. This could also be slate but slate is usually black. Could just be a coloring error. It looks like they're much farther in time/technology than the Ancient Roman Empire so... Who knows. I'm just a nerd.
