Is a half-ton truck enough to tow a classic car and car trailer easily?
Post Body

I'm trying to decide between a 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton pickup that will also be my daily driver. One day, I'm gonna roll up to my driveway with a 1st gen Camaro or C3 Vette on a car trailer and I'd like to be ready when the time comes. I've always assumed that I'd get 3/4 ton since I'd have no problem towing a camper or a car on a trailer but that was under the assumption that it wasn't going to by a daily driver. Well, that changed. My commute isn't far at 10 miles round trip but it is in small city traffic. I'm starting to consider a 1/2 ton instead. Honestly, for the same money, I can step up a trim level and get a nicer truck but will be sacrificing brute force. I'll match the future camper to whatever the vehicle can handle but it certainly won't be a monster camper.

I know that a lot of you guys and gals have towed your classics home on a trailer so who better to ask? Did you find that your F-150's or 1500' series pickups did the job and did it well?

An old 06-07 vortec max will work as a half ton but I grabbed an 07 1500hd truck and that's basically a 3/4 ton or considered a heavy half. Cheaper on insurance than a 2500 but tows the same and rides a little better.
