Why is Mumble's auto-AFK feature so awful?

Mumble: Able to automatically place users in an AFK channel when they do not tranmit for X amount of time.
Ventrilo: Able to automatically place users in an AFK channel when they are actually away from their computer (no activity).
Mumble's feature is terrible because people can sometimes go hours with transmitting and be automatically placed in an "away" channel when they're really still there.
