I just got back into MTG after not playing for over a decade and recently discovered the limited format with DMU. At the prerelease I made a pretty standard black/green deck, and then starting going to my LGS for draft night and quickly discovered the fun. With DMU you got rewarded with making crazy decks with more colors with the domain abilities. Then with BRO at the beginning I thought things would be bomb heavy with some of the retro artifacts, but after a while you learned how to use the Powerstones to your advantage.
For this new set tho, the only thing that seems to matter is playing on curve and getting your 1,2, and 3 drops out. I made a 5 color deck in prerelease with some multicolored big creatures and mana fixing that got stomped by 2 color decks that had a focused theme. And now in draft I keep getting stomped by decks that are entirely on theme. Try and mix poison and oil counters? 0-3 mix red/white equipment and blue white artifacts? 0-3 I would love to experiment with different deck types but when I have nothing but a 3 drop in my opening hand and see them put down a 1 drop I know the game is already over. Might just wait for the next set to draft regularly
