My playgroup and I have been playing The Ring format for a while now and we all agree (in our own opinions) that it could have been developed a little better. Now this is not a knock on Wizards R and D, we all love MTG and think that they do a great job. But when it comes to the Ring format we felt that they swung and missed.

We were discussing merging the the Ring Format with Monarch and then making the Rings effects have a negative effect that stacks with each turn or each time you come to possess the Ring or having the Rings effects get better and better with each turn or each time you come to possess the Ring along with the effect you would get by being the Monarch.

My question to you all is which sounds better or how would you go about it.
