I’ve played MTG off & on since about 1997, including on Arena, & I recently returned to playing paper regularly after many years of not playing paper. In a game of commander a few weeks ago, I was shocked when an opponent pointed out that I don’t have to tap my creatures every time I block. I was floored, because I’ve always tapped as a habit, which I thought was because of a rule. (I know, roast me in the comments.) Of course, I looked up the rules & saw that tapping to block isn’t part of the rules; I’ve spent more time paying attention to Arena, online videos of games, etc.; & now I see that maybe I’m the only one & I have to unlearn the habit. But where did I get the idea? Was tapping to block something in the early years that changed afterward? Anyone have any idea?
