Ruling on Rodolf's Indestructible ability.

So I'm trying to find rulings on this as several people have explained to me that if Rodolf blocks/is blocked. Lifelink would trigger, giving me life. But his indestructible ability would simply go onto the stack. But he would die before it resolves the indestructible. I can't find rulings on this anywhere for this situation. Can someone help me understand why he would die before indestructible kicked in?
