Wigs, wigs, wigs! A guide…

I have experimented with wigs for some time, and my favorite kind are human hair wigs! I have found plenty of good ones on Etsy and they have been a game changer. However, for many of you who want long hair ASAP, it can be difficult to find wigs or know what to do. So, here’s a little guide!

You’re going to want a free part wig. Let me repeat: a free part wig. This is important as you will have more options with styling and will able to part your hair in anyway you’re wanting. It also allows you to put your hair up or do Dutch braids.

You’re also going to want a wig cap! I got mine from Amazon and I made sure to get one similar to my hair color. Wig caps can be quite annoying and they slip back, so my advice is to glue the wig cap (avoiding all areas which have hair! I think there’s protectants out there for that…). I then would let the glue dry using a hairdryer, and then I would start installing the wig. I would usually put glue on where the lace goes (I trimmed the lace on the wig for my liking) and then would place the wig, properly placing the hairline area where I want. After getting it the way I want, I would get a hairdryer to dry it.

Next… You’re going to want to style it. I 100% recommend heat styling using hot tools, I have tried a Dyson air wrap and it doesn’t really do much. So, I would use a 1.5 inch curling iron from T3.

Another recommendation is to look after your wigs like it was your real hair, especially if you are buying a human hair wig. So, make sure you are using heat protectants… I never used much hair oil unless it was really needed.

I hope this helps! Amani 🌸
