I’m new to making beats, and it’s something I really really love. I’ve wanted an MPC for a while now and from watching reviews and such I settled on a Live as it’s portable and seems like a good mix of the old workflow of the older MPCs.

I have two options.

A used MPC Live for £700 with a 32GB SD card and 120GB SSD or another used MPC Live with a 700GB 7200rpm HDD and £350 worth of loops and samples.

though I’ve learnt a fair amount of Ableton I think I prefer to use as much hardware as possible. I’m into making boom bap samples based beats and some lo-fi.

Which is worth it at this price? Or should I hold off for an updated MPC live?
