I've thought about moving to Asia from Canada for a number of years now and would like to understand other people perspectives' to help in my decision making process.
Context: I'm a mid thirties single white male working in finance for a manufacturing company, I hold a CFA charter and a masters from a globally recognized school. I don't speak any other languages, however either location I would intend to spend the first 3-6 months solely studying the respective language. I have visited both countries for just a week previously.
Objective: Study the language and find a job to live there in the country for at least a few years. Settling down, should I find a partner, would also be nice.
Pros for Japan:
More global headquarters (it seems as though North Asia is often covered from Toyko)
Spoken language is easier to learn (according to others)
Larger country to explore
Less pollution
Pros for Korea:
More affordable
Written language is easier to learn (I have done a basic Korean language class)
More outgoing culture
