Another Test Question
Post Body

I've seen a lot of information spread out, and I just figured since everyone is asking questions on individual threads rather than a megathread, I figured I'd get clarification.

So I'm flying out this 12/19 12:20 AM Central with a connecting flight in Taiwan which departs at 12/20 8 AM (This is 12/19 6:30 PM Central) arriving at KIX, I have a PCR Test scheduled on Thursday 9 AM that is nasopharyngeal and at the same time a rapid antigen test (Sofia) will be administered. I couldn't get a clear answer if they could fill out the MOFA sheet but will bring it with in case they can.

My questions are can the SOFIA test count the same as the CLEIA? Do you require the MOFA sheet? Is the first flight, the connecting flight, or the arrival time when the 72 hour timer stops ticking?

I might not get my PCR test results back in time if I do a test early Thursday so was hoping the rapid test results were more than enough. Although if they need PCR test, I can change my appointment to Wednesday, but if I do the latest appointment available on that day it's gonna be 71 hours from the transfer flight in Taiwan. Seems like it's cutting it close if they specifically need the test to be 72 hours prior to boarding the connecting flight, and its definitely past the 72 hours if it's based on the arrival time.

Sorry for the long winded message but a lot of the information is scattered on the MOFA page, here, and random news articles. I'm this close to paying the buttload of money for same day PCR tests result, but wanted to see if I was overthinking it.

Since Reddit's search function is crap, I figure I would also link threads that have more information on the tests etc. I'm going to call the embassy and see what they say too.

I'll update with older entries that have conflicting information regarding the leniency of the testing methods and experiences.
