Hi everyone!
In a week, I'll be moving to Tokyo for a gap year to study. During my time abroad, I'll be living with a host family which is equally as exciting as it is terrifying. I know some general tips (Don't empty the bath water, be enthusiastic, bring omiyage, etc..) about staying with a family, but does anyone have any last minute advice? I'm nervous about the language barrier and I'm scared I'll just be coped up in my room the entire semester. I know most host families are very nice people, but there's so many horror stories on reddit, I'm starting to doubt that. Does anyone have any last minute advice or experiences they'd like to share to make me a little less anxious? Thanks so much!
TL;DR: Nervous about how to act around a host family where I can barely hold up a decent conversation. Looking for tips and advice to make this move more easy.
