NY to LA with a stop in Chicago
Post Body

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for advice on how to best go about a move that is going to be happening probably. I'm deep in the running for a job that seems in my grasp but will require me to move from NY to LA relatively quickly. I just moved to NY from Kyoto Japan, so I haven't been here for long and don't have really any furniture aside from my mattress and TV. However we are considering grabbing all the furniture we left in Chicago before our move from Kyoto in between which include midcentury couches, table, dressers, and entertainment center. We are hoping to make LA our home for a while.

Now my conundrum is, should I rent a truck pack it up, and drive my stuff to chicago than potentially use a mover from there, should I just rent a truck from NY and stop in chicago to load up further and drive straight to LA, or should load up my car and ship what I can to chicago/LA then get a uhaul or mover from chicago to LA? I also could use a pod or similar from NY to LA, and then drive in my car to chicago and set up more pods etc then ship those out.

I also plan to leave all the winter clothes in Chicago which I could potentially just ship out. I could potentially get rid of some stuff but honestly I'm pretty sparse in this one bedroom in NY and I'm hoping to move to a bigger place in LA. I just want to make this move cheap, if it means driving a uhual etc, that is fine.

TL;DR: NY to LA, need to grab large furniture in Chicago, what do?
