Am I the asshole for asking someone to not use their phone during cinema showings?

Post Body

So I watched No Way Home with my mom tonight in a theater.

When we arrived at our assigned seats we found a guy sitting in it. I asked him if he could move and he did so while sighing and complaining, There was plenty of room somewhere else but he decided to move one seat to the right. So he was sitting next to me.
During the first 30 minutes of the film the guy was on his phone, brightness 100%. I bit on my tongue before eventually asking him if he could turn it off. He told me to shove it and stop looking at his phone. Near the end of the film, note, he used his phone throughout the film, we laughed and cheered with the rest of the audience and the vibe was good.
He eventually asked if we could 'shut the F up' since we were distracting him and I was 'an asshole and a hypocrite' During the credits he rushed off, never to be seen again.

We did have a good time at the movies though, and my mom certainly loved the film.
