Alita: Battle Angel should have be (or should be) told in multiple installments.

Post Body

I watched this last night (in 3D btw; it was quite nice). After finishing it, and even during it, I felt like it was a story that was far too condensed. I get that it was original in its own way (I’m sure a variant of this story has been told before though), and needed to break out onto the scene in a completed format, thus it being “squeezed” into a singular feature-length film; but there was easily enough material in it to warrant a multi-installment/episode series/saga that would’ve better served to hash out what I feel is its full story.

While the story was completed sufficiently for the sake of it being a singular movie, there were leftover questions and plot points that I felt could’ve been give more attention.

This overall opinion might stem from my having watched so many Kdramas; but if there’s one thing that I’ve found Kdramas to have gotten right, it’s that they give the appropriate amount of time needed for proper character/story development (I’m aware that Kdramas did not pioneer length-necessitated formats for such levels of developments).

But yeah, I won’t really get into the specifics of what all could be expanded upon in Alita; I will simply again say that it either should’ve been made into an installment series or that it should be done as such in the future. I of course won’t mind a sequel, but a sequel would not have the capacity to perform the duties I [personally] feel deserve doing if that story is going to be properly fleshed out the way that the movie so seemingly begged [it] to be fleshed out, at least in my opinion.

What’s y’all’s take? Do y’all agree/disagree? Was Alita fine as was, or did it leave you wanting to know/see more about the story?
